THE CALL REVIEW

In the fall of 1987, a group of small-town friends must survive the night in the home of a sinister couple after a tragic accident brings them to the couple’s door.  Starring: Lin Shaye, Tobin Bell, and Chester Rushing Directed by: Timothy Woodward Jr. Written by: Patrick Stibbs   This is “The Call” you don’t want to make! Chris (Chester Rushing) is the new kid in school, and quickly befriends Tonya (Erin Sanders). She seems nice at first, as she’s tasked with showing him around the school. Later she introduces him to her friends Zack (Mike Manning) and Brett (Sloane Morgan Siegel), and they all share a story with him. A story about how Tonya’s sister died under the care of a woman named Edith Cranston (Lin Shaye).   The group has done their best to make Edith’s life miserable like throwing rocks at her house. Edith confronts the teens including Chris, and makes it clear she will never back down from them. Unfortunately, later that night death comes for her, but this is o...

THE HORROR CROWD REVIEW

Revealing, intimate documentary spotlighting the Hollywood horror community. Starring: Lin Shaye, Greg Grunberg, and Russell Mulcahy Directed by: Ruben Pla    Whether on Twitter or on the podcast, we often talk about being a part of a horror community. Just a bunch of us out there talking about horror on social media, on podcasts, or creating anything from books to movies and art. We talk about it from a fan stand point in awe of the people out there creating big time horror movies. But in these conversations we rarely stop to consider…hey these people are a part of the horror community, or in this case crowd, as well.   “The Horror Crowd” takes fans into the world of the Hollywood horror community. It’s brought to us by Ruben Pla, who has found himself part of this crowd after being in movies like “Insidious,” and “Big Ass Spider!”. He uses his connections to talk to many familiar faces in the horror crowd, and takes a fan friendly approach to it. ...

INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY REVIEW

Parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet - in her own family home. Starring: Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell, and Angus Sampson Directed by: Adam Robitel Written by: Leigh Whannell   When “ Insidious ” premiered in 2010, it seemed like this was going to lead to big things, and it sort of did. Some arguably good movies followed like “ The Conjuring ,” “ Annabelle ,” and their sequels. It has also led to several of it’s own sequels, and now “Inisidious: The Last Key.” So lets begin the argument over the latest chapter in this franchise!   For “ Insidious: Chapter 3 ,” they decided to go the prequel route, and it turned out alright. It would make audiences think that this sequel would open a new chapter for this franchise. Unfortunately it doesn’t because The Last Key is yet another prequel. Seriously, how many prequels does a franchise need, especially one with only three movies under its belt?    This ti...

INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 REVIEW

A prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity. Starring: Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Angus Sampson, and Lin Shaye Written and directed by: Leigh Whannell   "Insidious" introduced audiences to something very creepy, and extremely weird. "Insidious: Chapter 2" followed that up almost reaching that same level of creepiness, but really not explaining much more about 'the Further.' Enter "Insidious: Chapter 3," the prequel that supposedly will fill in some of those blanks. Yes, they went the prequel route to offer audiences something more, but did they really?   Lets start with what many fans, including myself, want to know more about...'the Further.' Obviously there's some venturing into 'the Further,' ...
