A
couple begin to experience terrifying supernatural occurrences involving a

While "The Conjuring" is a
very good movie, one of the biggest things many people took away from it was
the brief introduction they got to the doll Annabelle. Right away I came out of
that movie saying that we needed to have a movie about that doll. I'm not sure
what it was about her, but apparently I wasn't the only one who felt the same
way. So now everyone who became instantly enamored with Annabelle, like myself,
got what they wanted... "Annabelle" the movie.
With that said, there are a lot of big
expectations from those who wanted this movie to happen. Honestly I wasn't sure
what to expect, but just knew I had to see it. If audiences didn't realize it
in "The Conjuring" it might not have taken them long to realize
Annabelle isn't a Chucky type doll. She isn't running around slicing up people
while giving wise cracks. However, she does have something in common with
Chucky, and that's how she’s possessed with evil. The beginning of the movie
sets up exactly why Annabelle has become the doll that shows up when bad things
are happening.
What seems a little weird about her
story is that she’s possessed not only by the woman who attacks the couple
early on, but also the evil that woman is trying to conjure up. Either way,
both produce some pretty scary scenes. One of those scenes starts with a little
girl, and ends coming at the audience as her older self. The true creepiness
comes from the demon. They do an excellent job of hiding it in the darkness,
and having it pop up. The prime example of that is the basement scene.
Besides the scares, it's also nice to
see a horror movie set in a little older time. It gives the movie a different
look as far as the setting, and visuals. However, the pace of the movie is very
similar to what audiences have seen in "The Conjuring" and
"Insidious." It's kind of slow, and the couple isn’t always that
interesting to listen to. The acting is all right, but nothing like the
performances in "The Conjuring."
Again, I'm not sure what I expected to
see in "Annabelle," but just knew I had to see it. While she isn't
the one actually doing the scares, there’s just something about her. There’s
just enough evil in her, which manages to produce just enough scares. Hopefully
audiences will get to see her again in a sequel, or maybe even in "The
Conjuring 2." I give this movie 3 pools of blood.
