A SERIAL KILLER'S GUIDE TO LIFE REVIEW



A self-help addict unwittingly finds herself on a killing spree with her unhinged life coach.

  Some people are comfortable in their own skin, and where they are in life. Others struggle finding an identify, and their place in the world. For those who struggle why not search out for a little self-help from the so-called experts? There are plenty to try from, and if one doesn’t work you can always try another…and another…and another!
  Well that is sort of what happens to Lou Farnt (Katie Brayden), who has found herself searching for self-help. Her favorite self-help expert is Chuck Knoah (Ben Lloyd-Hughes), and she listens to his tapes all the time. Obviously she's looking for help because she isn’t happy with where she is in her life, and isn’t sure how to make that big change. Along comes a chance encounter with self-help expert Val Stone (Poppy Roe), who encourages her to come on a journey with her.
  Finally the real fun in this movie is about to begin. Lou is so happy to go on this adventure that she doesn’t realize there is something off about Val. Val isn’t just a self-help expert, but also a pretty good serial killer. Val takes Lou to several self-help groups for Lou to take in the experience, and then Val to kill them off. It presents a good opportunity for some humor with how the groups are set up, and a dose of horror in taking them out. 
  Ultimately, they are on the way to meet Lou’s favorite self-help expert outside of Val…Chuck. It’s here that things get even more crazy, and a twist is revealed…or is it? Throughout the movie there are clues here and there that something else is happening here, but it really is left to the audience to decide what exactly has happened. Not going to give it away, but it might not be a total surprise to everyone. 
  Throughout “A Serial Killer’s Guide to Life” the audience hears Chuck’s key steps to self-help. Well HorrO’s steps to liking this movie are very simple. Step 1 is enjoying how opposite characters are brought together, and feed off each other as their journey goes on. Step 1 couldn’t happen without step 2…taking in the great performances from Katie and Poppy. Step 3 is don’t expect much from the deaths, as this isn’t a movie focusing on blood and guts. Step 4 is definitely laughing at the self-help groups that are presented especially one of the last ones. Finally step 5 is of course how you take in the twist. Regardless how step 5 turns out for you, there is plenty to like before that so I give it 3 pools of blood.

          Florida SuperCon, a place where fans of all kinds of genres, came together for 3 days of fun. Cosplay, which was a big part of the convention, gave fans an opportunity to dress up, and take part in contests and photo shoots. TOP 5 BEST AND WORST HORROR MOVIES OF 2010

  2010 started off well with some descent movies such as, Daybreakers, Legion, and The Wolfman. A few months in came probably the most anticipated, and talked about movie of the year: the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Some of the talk was positive, but more of it seemed negative. Speaking of greatly talked about movies, I can’t forget to mention the DVD release of The Human Centipede. The summer kicked off with Splice, and ended with The Last Exorcism. October should have been a time to celebrate with horror movies, but the box office was pretty weak for movies such as, My Soul to Take 3D, Let Me In, and Hatchet 2. On the other hand, it ended well with Saw 3D, and Paranormal Activity 2.   What does all of this mean? It is about that time of year to wrap up the 2010 horror movie season, and move on to 2011.
