BEDRIDDEN REVIEW

Bedridden tells the story of Teri, a weary widow, facing the painful task of rebuilding her life as a single mother, following a traumatic encounter with an armed assailant. When her worst fears seemingly come true, Teri finds herself bedridden and trapped with her newest foe in a cat and mouse game of life and death.

Starring: Elizabeth Elise Gonzalez, Jose Angel Herrera, and Hector Dez

Directed by: Dakota

Written by: Dakota and Christian Valencia

No one wants to be “Bedridden,” especially after a traumatic event like this. Teri (Elizabeth Elise Gonzalez) and her husband (Jose Angel Herrera) were enjoying some private time together in a hotel when things went horribly wrong. A man broke into the room, and attacked the couple. Unfortunately, Teri’s husband didn’t make it out alive, while Teri suffered some physical and emotional wounds.

The attack actually leaves Teri bedridden with her two daughters left to watch over her. Of course they have other things to do, and mom insists that she can take care of herself. Mom gets her wish, but may regret it when she finds out the man who killed her husband is still out there. Paranoia sets in as she battles her fears, and attacker while barely able to leave the bed.

The first thing to like about the film is its plot. To have a traumatized person who can’t really leave their bed opens the door to plenty of opportunities for horror. They don’t make it easy for Teri as they will blur the lines of reality for her and the audience. She’s sure the killer is there, but is he really? Is everything she’s seeing and experiencing real?

The horror for her will get worse as the night goes on. Blood will be spilt, and demons will rise. She’ll look for someone special to help get her through it all, but will it be too late? The emotional trauma for her will be pushed to its limits.

“Bedridden” might confine Teri to a bed, but it will keep the audience on its toes. They will have to figure out if her attacker is really there, or is she just mentally damaged from the hotel mugging. It will certainly have moments of horror, but won’t shy away from trying to pull on some heart strings as well. A slightly faster pace might have helped out the acting in a few spots. Otherwise, hopefully fans will give this one chance, as I give it 2.5 pools of blood.
