Who the Hell is HorrO?

Glad you asked! I’ve been a horror fan since I first saw “A Nightmare on Elm Street” when I was growing up. Horror has always been my choice when headed to theaters. It came a time around the release of “The Strangers” that I had an urge to write horror, but couldn’t decide on what I wanted to write. I had too many ideas, and didn’t know if they were for a book, screenplay, or what. So instead I decided to start reviewing horror movies, and HorrO and HorrO's Gory Reviews was born.

The blog was created for me to review movies, and have a little fun. Not long after starting, I realized there was a whole lot more to horror than just what I saw in theaters. People started sending me press releases, asking me to review their books and films on YouTube, and to subscribe to their blogs among other things. I wasn’t ready for that, but did what I could to help. I certainly enjoyed this new world of horror that had been presented to me.

While managing the blog, I did squeeze in some writing with another blog/story…The Dog Days in Zombieville. Basically it was a blog simulating the journal of Max Wagner, and his life in Zombieville. I also shared the journal on Twitter by tweeting out the entries as well. Unfortunately, I never got to finish because I had to find a better way to serve the people asking for help at HorrO’s Gory Reviews. I had to find a way to help them promote horror.

So after some thought, and searching around my best idea yet was revealed in the form of PromoteHorror.com. I designed PromoteHorror.com in a way to meet the needs of what people were asking for, and what I could give them. In the first 5 months I did 153 posts, and in the first full year 610. It grew and grew, and has taken hours upon hours to maintain, but I’ve grown to truly love doing it.

It has also opened so many doors for me to enjoy horror in ways I never thought I would. I’ve gone to conventions and met so many horror icons that were so nice. I even created and gave some of them shirts from the blog, and site, which I know some of them have worn. I’ve attended movie screenings as press, and PromoteHorror.com has given out passes for screenings as contest prizes. Going into this I never viewed myself as media, but have felt like one when given the pleasure to interview filmmakers, and cast. And never would I ever have imagined PromoteHorror being a sponsor of anything, but in 2019 it was a sponsor of 4 film festivals, 2 not even in the United States.

Alright, if you’re still reading this I’m sure you’re about bored as hell so I’ll wrap this up. You now know ‘Who the Hell HorrO is,’  how I got started, and what I have been up to over the last 10 years. It truly has been an honor to go from horror fan to serving the horror community 365 days a year. I appreciate all the opportunities given to me, and look forward to what’s to come. Below are links to some sites that interviewed me, and some more pics and videos I enjoyed getting along the way!
