MY THOUGHTS ON TRUE BLOOD SEASON 4 EPISODE 1

Now that is a great season premiere of True Blood, and the previews for the upcoming episodes look awesome, but let me not get ahead of myself. Speaking of getting ahead, the tone for this episode and the season is set when we find out that this episode takes places just over a year from where season 3 leaves off. This episode gives us a few hints at what has happened over the last year, but also leaves plenty of unanswered questions. So here are my thoughts on what happened on True Blood season 4 episode 1.   Season 3 ends with Sookie being taken away by Claudine, and season 4 begins with Sookie and Claudine arriving in fairyland. I know the fairy thing turns off some people so I can’t imagine they would be excited seeing the season open with fairies. Then there is mention of Claudine being Sookie’s “godmother,” and I was thinking that is weak. Just when I was getting worried about this opening, fairy world turned upside down. Along with those that hate the fairy t...

SUPER 8 REVIEW

One of the reasons I wanted to see J. J. Abrams’ Cloverfield so much was obviously the mystery that the previews created. The city is apparently under attack, but by what? Add the found footage angle, and they had me hooked. Now Abrams brings us Super 8, with some of that same mystery. Knowing little about the movie, it seemed like there was going to be another creature, but with the possibility of some weird stuff happening, such as the previews showing floating objects. Again, they had me hooked, but is the pay off worth it the second time around?   A few months after losing his mother, a young boy, Joe Lamb, tries to take his mind off his loss by helping his best friend Charles make a zombie movie. One night, Joe, Charles, and some friends sneak out to film part of the movie by some train tracks. While their camera is rolling, Joe sees the train about to crash, and warns his friends just in time to make a run for it. It turns out that the crash isn’t a...

THE DEAD HOUR: INDIE HORROR WEBSERIES

Do you remember the good old days when there was Tales from the Crypt? You can’t forget that creepy looking skeleton that loved to tell us his favorite twisted tales. He loved to laugh at the pitfalls of others. Well, DJ Raven has picked up where the Crypt Keeper left off introducing us to The Dead Hour, a weekly radio show devoted to striking fear into the audience. She has some of her own gruesome tales to tell in this indie horror web series.   Donor : “In a time where banks are failing, homes are shuttered, and one-and-a-half out of ten people are unemployed, Seth discovers a way to maintain the lifestyle he and his wife have become accustomed to…but at a crippling cost.” After reading that, you can kind of guess the direction this tale goes. You have to check out this story to see just how far Seth goes, as he puts everything on the line for his family. One of the best things about this story is how his wife reacts when finding out what he is doing, and I j...

PRIEST 3D REVIEW

I had high expectations for this movie from the second I saw the first preview. I am not sure what got me all excited. Maybe it was those scary looking vampire creatures. I couldn't wait to see the priests take them on. Maybe it was my immediate interest in wanting to know more about these priests. More than anything, I got an epic vibe from it. Something told me this was going to be a great adventure. So did “Priest” turn into an epic movie, or just an epic fail?    The movie is based off a graphic novel by Min-Woo Hyung. It takes place after years and years of battles between vampires and humans. With the help of these priests, humans are finally able to defeat the vampires, and are trying to rebuild in these post apocalyptic times. While the church believes vampires are no longer a threat, a vampire attack on a family living on an outpost leads to the kidnapping of a young girl, Lucy (Lily Collins). This is no coincidence because Lucy happens to be related to ...

BEING HUMAN (US) SEASON 1 REVIEW

(there is a spoiler alert in this review)    The first season of Being Human came and went rather quickly. So quickly that some people didn’t even notice. A lot of people were skeptical of it, especially those that have seen the UK version. Friends, who I trust, that watch the UK version say that it is a great deal better than this US version. I hadn’t seen a second of the UK version, so I really didn’t know what to expect, but was intrigue by the idea of a vampire, werewolf, and ghost living together.   For those that aren’t familiar with the show, let me start with a brief summary of the main characters, and storylines. As stated above, the basic idea here is that a vampire, werewolf, and ghost all live together in the same house. The vampire, Aiden (Sam Witwer), is trying to turn his life around by not killing people, and drinking their blood. As with the usual vampire storyline, he struggles with this, along with trying to distance himself from his past. His creat...

SCREAM 4 REVIEW

I tried not to catch a preview of this movie because I didn't want to have any preconceived notions about it. Unfortunately, I saw the preview, and immediately became concerned. I was hoping for a Scream that relied more on the mystery of who the killer is, and the deaths as in the original. However, the preview made it appear this one would rely on a lot more laughs than I would hope for. I began to fear I would be watching another Scary Movie sequel instead of Scream.   What would Scream be without Sidney, Dewey, and Gale? Sidney returns home on the anniversary of the original murders as the author of a new book. Just after Sidney and Gale get a second to catch up, Dewey and the entire police force show up looking for a cell phone that was used in the murders the night before. They find it, along with some blood smeared on posters for Sidney’s book, in the trunk of her car. The big three immediately fear that they are about to relive the events that put the small to...
