Things go badly for a hack director and film crew shooting a low budget zombie movie in an abandoned WWII Japanese facility, when they are attacked by real zombies.

Starring: Takayuki Hamatsu, Yuzuki Akiyama, and Harumi Shuhama

Directed and written by: Shin’ ichiro Ueda

Some people prefer to know little about a film, while others watch every trailer there is before watching it. For those that like to know everything about a film beforehand, please don’t do that with “One Cut of the Dead.” This is a case of the less you know the better! With that said, it may be hard to review it, but lets see what can be said without giving any spoilers away.
“One Cut of the Dead” is simply a brilliant film, but it may not feel that way from the start. The first 35-40 minutes or so is about a film crew trying to make a zombie film. In the middle of filming, they get attacked by zombies, but this doesn’t stop production. While the cast is freaking out, the director encourages them to continue acting because it’s more real than anything they’ve shot before.
At this point, the film is nothing more than another zombie film that has a very awkward vibe to it. It’s a little weird at times, bloody at others, and maybe even hard to watch. Whatever you do…DON’T STOP WATCHING! It will be well worth your time to sit and wait for the second half of the film to unfold.
Why? Well that would be a spoiler, but lets just say all those weird moments will be washed away. That awkward feeling you have will now turn to laughs, and you can enjoy what they have in store for you from here on out. It proves to be an extremely hilarious ride like you’ve never seen before in a zombie film!
While it might be safe to say you’re not familiar with this cast, you’ll love them in the end. Again, in the beginning you’ll probably feel like they couldn’t be any worse. In the end, you’ll see what a great job they did. They make it all seem so natural. They nail the comedy, and everything that’s asked of them. It gives a genuine feel, and some heart to the film.
Movies like “Zombieland,” and “Shaun of the Dead” may go down as some of the best zombie comedies because of their wide releases, and of course their comedy. However, if “One Cut of the Dead” got the same kind of release, it would be right up there with those films. It also will always have something those don’t, and that’s originality. It’s an unique and extremely clever film. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing or not, but to have a film get to the point where you almost want to give up on it, and turn it all around into pure genius is crazy. Maybe one day I’ll do a spoiler review of the film, but until then I give it the rare 5 pools of blood!

Horror Movie Survival Kit

Man Crates is a new company that ships awesome gifts for men in custom wooden crates that he has to open with a crowbar! At Man Crates, it is their mission to end the difficulties that have long been associated with buying gifts for men.  And what does Man Crates have to do with horror? Well, while they have a wide assortment of crates, they also have horror themed ones like their "Zombie Survival Crate." Someone at Man Crates asked me to create my own Horror Movie Survival Kit as part of their Halloween celebration so here we go! Us horror fans know that is usually takes a lot to survive a horror film. A lot of it comes from the person's will to live, and a little luck. Obviously those things don't come in a crate, so lets start by thinking about the kind of horror movies we could end up in. We have zombies, vampires, werewolves, ghosts, aliens, end of the world scenarios, and even sharknados! Even with a crate I'm not sure we could be totally prep
